Last week's Tackle it Tuesday brought me to re-assess my organizational needs. I started off with the Busybody Book and it has helped me immensely with keeping track of my agenda and and more importantly,sticking to it.
I now have a place to write down all the important things that need to get done on a daily/weekly basis which led me to my next venture....how to set up a daily routine that works for me. I wanted cleaning and organizing to be part of the routine to make my life easier.Is that asking too much? I surely didn't think so!
I researched dozens of sites that wanted you "pay" for their promises of either helping you get organized or help you get a cleaning schedule in place with lots of downloadable forms and the like.Nope, not for me,I knew what I was looking for and these were not it.As my frugal nature would have it, I am not paying someone else to tell me how to organize their way, no matter what that 100% money back guarantee claims.
And then I found it! The Flylady! Yes,finally a site that incorporated organizing and cleaning routines into your daily life 1 babystep at a time.And the best part? Its FREE, oh yeah, I signed up and since becoming a "Flybaby" you cannot begin to imagine the amount of work we have gotten done in a little over a week!
The whole idea behind her concept is helping you to set up a Morning Routine as well as a Before Bed Routine.Once you have gotten this in place through the help of her site and the email reminders, you are on your way to bigger and better things Flybaby!
What I really like about the "program" are the many ideas she offers or "Tools", my favorite being the 27 Fling Boogie where you throw away 27 things within a 15 min timespan. Me and the girls have cleared up so much clutter in the house and its so much fun!! It doesn't even really take 15 min.....speaking of minutes, most of her routine runs in 10-15 increments which really makes it easy to grasp without feeling overwhelmed.
The site has plenty to read about and I continually find new things to read about which doesn't make it boring or seem complicated.To date I have Tackled 2 closets,the hot spots in the dining room,established a daily am and pm routine that works for me and have had the house clean all week,not to mention a shiny sink:)
While these are just a few of the attributes of the site,there a few things that I do not agree with and that's ok, I just adapt it to fit my needs.For instance,I don't agree w/doing laundry every morning, that would be using a lot of water 1st of all and wasting detergent as well. So I just adapted it to 2 times a week instead of the usual "do it all in 1 day Friday nite marathon".And while I do like her tools, I certainly would not buy anything from the shop as it appears too expensive for my taste,as one of her Flylady Dusters cost about $30. I've gotten free swiffer dusters and I intend to use them so I just adjusted to it.
All in all, her site is very helpful and filled with great ideas in helping you to get started on your own schedules without hurting your budget and I am happy to be a Flybaby:) Now I'm off to "Go Shine My sink"!
