Making Your Own

During my survey, a reader suggested adding a "Category" for Homemade Cleaning Supplies and I thought it was a great frugal idea. I will add it to the sidebar for future reference and will keep it updated with new "recipes".In the past, I've read about a lot about the benefits of making your own Cleaning Supplies with household ingredients for a fraction of the cost that you would pay for. Not only is it cheaper, but it is more "family-friendly" without all those harsh chemicals and works just as well. One of my utmost favorites is just plain 'ole Baking soda.

Did you know that Baking Soda has a lot of great uses other than for freshening up our 'fridges? I actually love cleaning with it, it is a great all purpose cleaner and you can't beat the cost of a large box that has so many uses! Here is a list of just some of the many uses around the house:

  • makes a great kitchen degreaser when mixed as a paste with water and a little bit of dishwashing detergent
  • great for freshening up carpets as opposed to buying carpet Fresh, works especially well with pets
  • speaking of pets, come very handy with my kitty's litter box
  • sprinkle some into a hot bath and it becomes a skin softener

The list goes on,to read some more household ideas/uses, you can find more info here . Ok,back to making your own Homemade Formulas ( can you tell that I get excited about BS? ). To make your own, check out CleaningRecipes for some good starter recipes.

If you have any Homemade recipes that you use that you'd like to share, tell us about it and we will add it to the upcoming list!
