Trying to find something fun & productive (don't forget inexpensive!) for the kids during the summer months are always a challenge for us. Each summer the kids want to do/go somewhere but we usually cannot afford the expensive camps and art classes, so we usually try to find parks & playgrounds to go to. Reader Jill sent us this idea which is perfect (and affordble, lol!):
When school's out, kids around the country can visit selected Regal theatres for the Free Family Film Festival. It's a fun-filled nine weeks of movies for kids and parents. Since 1991, Regal has provided this service to the community, and best of all it's FREE!
Selected G & PG movies start at 10AM each Tuesday and Wednesday during the festival. First-come, first-served seating is limited to theatre capacity. The Free Family Film Festival is safe, lots of fun and a great way for kids to spend a weekday morning in the summer.
You can see the Summer Schedule here.
The movies are pretty costly these days and are a RARE treat at my house. I really can't see spending $40 just for us to go out so this is a great deal that you can't beat!
Anyone else have any other Frugal fun Summer Ideas? We really do need some ideas!!

Another great idea is to check for local free events with your town's city of commerce calendar, local papers, and tourism board. In the summer, many areas host performances and family friendly concerts and movies in local parks. Also, museums may have one afternoon or day during the week that they offer free admission. And if you have a Bank of America account, you can get into a lot of national museums for free!
I just blogged on this yesterday too and I was so psyched to see the new theatre that opened up last year down the road is a Regal. Yeah!
Of course there's the Kids Bowl Free offer that people have been buzzing about and the cool lemonade stand kit from Sunkist. If nothing else, my kids will love setting this up in the basement! And the summer reading program at B&N (earn a free book!). Have a great weekend!
